Last weekend, a team of Arsenal legends took on AC Milan at the Emirates Stadium to raise money for the Arsenal Foundation, a club-run charity organisation which has donated millions for a range of educational, social and health-related projects since the 1980s.
The opposition team they took on didn’t look too bad, and included world champions Dida, Cafu and Desailly as well as Italy legends Maldini and Vieri, who recently made an unlikely comeback in the Chinese league at the age of 43.
Despite a few extra kilos and a few less hair, Arsenal’s side looked great and featured some of the club’s all-time greats: Ljungberg, Pires, Overmars, Lehmann, Gilberto Silva, Petit and many more. They also showed class is ageless by winning it 4-2, thanks to a hat trick from Kanu, who in 2016 still looks better than Giroud.
More importantly, Arsenal raised over £1m to build football pitches for children in London, Jordan and Somalia. The mark of a truly great club. Check out the players’ reactions and match highlights below:
