Always on the lookout for interesting events and places which involve as little commuting effort on my behalf as possible, I decide to go and check out the Magical Lantern Festival hosted at Chiswick House, just down the road from where I live.
It was nice to avoid the hassle of the tube and an evening away from the crowding and buzzing of central London for a change. If you’ve not been to Chiswick House, it’s actually a lovely spot worth checking out during the day as well.
The Lantern Festival celebrates the Chinese New Year, transforming the usually sober park into a sparkling display of colourfully lit sculptures. A nice little evening walk (probably about half an hour to go through the entire display) on a larger than expected scale. I’ll let the pictures do the talking.
The Magical Lantern Festival is on at Chiswick House until 6th March. Closest tube station Turnham Green.Ticketed entry every 15 minutes from 5.00pm to 8.45pm. Tickets are like £15 quid (I think, got my friend to buy them so I’m not sure)
