When I was little, I was lucky enough to go on family skiing holidays almost every year. I loved our skiing holidays so much. They were great times to get the whole family together, including my grandparents and cousins.
We always went to the Alpe d’Huez resort, located in the Central French Alps. Up there in the mountains, it really feels like being on a different planet, and one’s able to leave behind the stress and hassle of every day life to just enjoy the stunning landscapes.
Skiing itself is fun, and is probably my favourite sport – ahead of football, yes. The family holidays were a time of celebration also – we’d often go down to celebrate Christmas or New Year which was amazing.
I look back very fondly on those days, a time when life was simple and my nan still among us, running the show and making sure these were holidays we’d enjoy so much they would stay with us forever. As far as I’m concerned, she definitely succeeded.
